Open Gym

Unstructured, free-play gym time. Kids run, jump, climb, and invent their own games with friends — with a CKC coach on site and plenty of equipment to explore.

What Open Gym is all about

No stations, no whistle, no schedule — just a safe, welcoming gym where kids get to play their own way.

🎈

Free play, their way

Kids choose how they play — making up games with new friends, exploring the equipment, or simply burning off energy. There's no coach-led programming; this time belongs to them.

🧗

Equipment to explore

The gym is set up with age-appropriate equipment for kids to play with — the same kind of mats, balls, hoops, and obstacle pieces they love from our movement programs.

🧑‍🏫

A coach on site

A CKC coach is always on site to keep the space safe and welcoming. Parents stay with their kids and are welcome to jump into the fun too.

Sessions

We're working on bringing Open Gym sessions to PEC. Stay tuned.

Open Gym FAQ

Common questions about Open Gym sessions.

How is Open Gym different from the movement programs?
Our movement programs are structured, coach-led classes with planned activities. Open Gym is the opposite: unstructured free play. A CKC coach is on site to keep things safe, but they won't be running any programming — kids play however they like with one another and the equipment available in the gym.
Do I need to stay with my child?
Yes. A parent or guardian must stay for the duration of the session and is responsible for supervising their child. You're welcome to get in there and play together!
What does the coach on site do?
The coach sets up the space, keeps an eye on how the equipment is being used, and makes sure the gym stays safe and welcoming for everyone. They won't be leading activities — Open Gym is all about kids directing their own play.
What should my child bring or wear?
Just like our movement programs: indoor running shoes, comfy clothes to move in, and a water bottle.
What ages is Open Gym for?
We're still finalizing the details, including age ranges and session times. Join the mailing list and we'll let you know as soon as they're announced.
